Moldavite 1.1" Oval Rough Sterling Silver Pendant. MLDP4262
Moldavite
Nature: Moldavite is a tektite of natural green glass formed from a meteorite impact about 15 million years ago in Bavaria, forming the Ries Crater in Southern Germany. The high energy impact melted the terrestrial rock and smattered it in several directions; now found mostly in the collecting fields of southern Bohemia and Moravia, Czech Republic; Waldviertel, Austria, and Lausitz, eastern Germany. With a green wine bottle color, it is further distinguished by its mossy like swirls, bubbles, and worm-shaped schlieren, formed from the rapid etched melting and cooling of the fast-flying molten stone. Because of it growing popularity, and limitations of only being mined in the Chez Republic, it is estimated that all commercial mining will only last about 10 years. The olive green color is formed mostly from Iron Oxide impurities, not too different from the gemstone olivine.
Our stones are carefully selected and cut for best representation for the uniqueness of value of the natural stones and our silversmithing craftsmanship (sterling silver) are design to compliment our product for the best enhancement and wearability of the individual.
